The ECHS Speech & Debate Team (also known as EC Forensics) empowers students to find their voice, think critically and speak out in a supportive and inclusive community.
We welcome students at all levels to join the team and compete in speech and debate tournaments.
Join us for the 2026 Annual El Cerrito HS Speech & Debate Showcase!
For one night only, experience our award-winning debaters and speakers as they feature their skills and performances. Students and families interested in joining the team are strongly encouraged to attend.

What To Expect
For Students
Complete the necessary forms to sign up
Attend practice after school twice per week
Optionally compete in tournaments
Have fun while finding your voice
For Parents and Families
Attend monthly meetings
Make a tax-deductible contribution to the team each year to help cover the costs of coaching, tournament fees, and materials
Volunteer: opportunities are plentiful and help is very much needed to fundraise, coordinate logistics for tournaments, volunteer on the board, judge and chaperone at tournaments, and perform operational duties in support of the team
The team's continuity and success depend on the ongoing participation and support of the parents and guardians.
