The ECHS Speech & Debate Team (also known as EC Forensics) empowers students to find their voice, think critically and speak out in a supportive and inclusive community.
We welcome students at all levels to join the team and compete in speech and debate tournaments.

Parent and Family Training on October 7th
We need volunteer judges to judge at tournaments for this school year! Join us for a training session to learn the basics of judging at the El Cerrito High School Library from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm on October 7. No experience is necessary.

To join the Team, please start by filling out the interest form.
All 2026-27 participation forms can be found on this checklist. All forms are due by October 15, unless you are competing in a tournament before then.
Support the team. Donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
What To Expect

For Parents and Families
Attend monthly meetings
Make a tax-deductible contribution to the team each year to help cover the costs of coaching, tournament fees, and materials
Volunteer: opportunities are plentiful and help is very much needed to fundraise, coordinate logistics for tournaments, volunteer on the board, judge and chaperone at tournaments, and perform operational duties in support of the team
The team's continuity and success depend on the ongoing participation and support of the parents and guardians.
